We are excited as we continue to follow the Lord’s leading serving at FamilyLife in Little Rock, Arkansas since February 2011! We are native born Kansans, Steve being from St. Marys and Lila from Moran. We met as students at Kansas State University. After 20 years in business we served at a stewardship ministry for over six years when the Lord began working in our hearts to expand our ministry. The Lord gave us a passion to serve families and marriages because as we trained budget coaches all over the state of Kansas and budget-counseled people in our home church we realized that finances many times were a symptom of other problems inside those marriages!
As we prayed about how we would apply that passion, God led us to make a phone call for wise counsel, or so we thought, to an acquaintance who was on staff at FamilyLife. About two minutes into the call he mentioned that his responsibilities included staff recruitment. That was followed by, “Would you be interested in moving to Little Rock!?” After saying “Fleshly, no…” we then came to realize over the ensuing weeks that God’s call to consider FamilyLife was a confirmation of the vision we had been given a few weeks before by God. We made the decision in the spring of 2010 to begin raising support and to sell our Topeka, Kansas house. We moved to Little Rock on February 17, 2011.
We have been married for 34 years and have four children; Ansen is married to Dri and resides in Siloam Springs, AR-they have two daughters Avie and Arwyn. Our daughter Arielle and her husband Andrew reside in Springdale, AR-they have a son Adler. Marshall and Madeleine are in college at John Brown in Siloam Springs, AR and Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR respectively.
Steve is serving as Division Manager leading nine of the FamilyLife Weekend to Remember Reps. Steve is responsible for managing staff both at the headquarters here in Little Rock, and in the field. In this role Steve leads and equips one of our team of Reps as they minister to, recruit and equip volunteers in churches, businesses, and families all over the U.S. This role fits Steve’s skills and interests and is incredibly important as FamilyLife seeks to multiply the impact for families through volunteer teams. Lila is active at the ministry too as she helps with hospitality for new staff as they either move to Little Rock or spend time at the office training for their new roles in the field as well as being responsible for communication with the field staff women.
